New naming opportunity for Waikato’s iconic stadium
After a decade of packed stands, unforgettable match days and global spotlight, FMG Stadium Waikato is getting ready for its next chapter, and a new name.
FMG’s naming rights partnership for FMG Stadium Waikato, the first for the stadium, will come to its planned end in June 2026.
Since 2015, the partnership between FMG and Hamilton City Council has helped shape the stadium into one of New Zealand’s most recognised and well-used venues.
Ben Slatter, FMG Stadium Waikato Director, is proud of what the partnership has achieved.
“Together we’ve been part of a decade of unforgettable moments, from All Blacks tests and FIFA Women’s World Cup matches to record-breaking NRL games and community events that brought hundreds of thousands through the gates.”
Chief Marketing Officer at FMG, Pete Frizzell said: “It has been a privilege to partner with Hamilton City Council. FMG Stadium Waikato is an incredible asset for the communities of the Waikato and we’ve loved being a part of the magic created by the teams and the fans at the stadium. Don’t worry, FMG’s presence and commitment to supporting rural communities in the Waikato, and beyond, will continue.”
As the current agreement nears its end, Council is now inviting expressions of interest for the next naming rights partner.
“This is a rare opportunity for a business to align with a stadium that continues to deliver national and international exposure, while boosting local pride and economic impact,” said Slatter.
Naming rights partnerships help offset operational costs and ensure the stadium remains a vibrant, accessible venue for the region.
The naming of the stadium won’t impact events at the venue, with at least six Super Rugby games already locked in for next year.
