New podcast aims to spark important event industry discussions
A new podcast launched today by Hamilton’s H3 group promises to give listeners the inside scoop on the New Zealand event industry.
Titled ‘Soundcheck’, the podcast is targeted at event professionals and presented by Gary Taylor, H3’s Business Development Manager – Impact Events who has been working in the event industry for over 20 years.
Taylor says the idea behind the Soundcheck podcast was to spark conversations about important topics within the industry, prompt debate and share knowledge among event professionals.
“Podcasts are increasingly popular, yet we couldn’t find anything within New Zealand that was specific to the events industry. We wanted to help fill that void and deliver a monthly podcast that event professionals can tune into to feel better connected within the industry, learn something new or take some inspiration from.
“For Soundcheck our intention is to interview people in all areas of the industry, from event organisers, venue managers and technical specialists, through to performers and young professionals who are just starting out in the business – we think everyone has insights or opinions to share that would be of interest to others,” says Taylor.
The podcast launched today with the release of the first episode, which is a discussion with promoter and producer Layton Lillas covering a range of topics including the relationship between promoters and venues, ticketing, how Covid-19 has impacted audience behaviour and what it takes to be successful in events.
“Layton was a great person to talk to for this first episode as he followed such an interesting path into the event industry, has taken some brave steps to get to where he is today and is so willing to openly share his experiences, knowledge and opinions,” says Taylor.
“I look forward to chatting to more people from all facets of events to provide Soundcheck episodes that are of interest to our industry – if you’re keen to be a part of a Soundcheck episode then I’d love to hear from you.”
You can subscribe to Soundcheck on Apple podcasts, Spotify and other podcast streaming platforms. The first episode is available here - https://open.spotify.com/show/3F7clsJBXOmVLZiGhMqlDG?si=e1fbd1fc63b94ae0.
